Leland businessman, founder and Managing Director of the popular sports venue, The House of Pickleball (The HOP), has announced the launch of his non-partisan campaign for one of two open seats on the Leland Town Council that will be up for election in November 2021.
He brings a career record of successful business accomplishments to the table along with an understanding of what makes a municipality successful. He recently served as a member of the Leland Tourism Development Committee. Holloman’s platform, based on his business acumen, will be laser focused on a vision of a well- managed, all inclusive, and forward-thinking strategy for growth by utilizing sound fiscal policies and an insightful understanding of how municipalities function.
Holloman received a BSBA degree in Accounting from East Carolina University and was employed at Burroughs corporation in Raleigh, NC before starting several software businesses. Throughout his career, he served as CEO and President of two software companies that designed, developed, implemented and marketed software to local governments as well as developed law enforcement and 911 software to municipalities and counties throughout the United States.
After moving to Leland, Holloman became a Pickleball instructor, certified by International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association, serving players throughout NC. In the past Holloman, along with other instructors, have provided free training and equipment to students at Lincoln Elementary.
Richard and his wife, Julia, have been married for 45 years. They moved from Greenville, NC to Wilmington, NC in 1995. When Richard retired they moved to Leland in 2014 and currently live in Brunswick Forest. The couple has two sons, a daughter and seven grandchildren. The Holloman family have been very active members of Port City Community Church since 2008.

Richard has an excellent understanding of the administrative operations of city and county governments.
Leadership
Moved to Wilmington in 1996 to lead a local software company in the creation of software for Police , Fire, and Computer Aided Dispatch. Developed one of the first message switches that provide wireless communication between a police vehicle and command center or police department.
Successful business
He is an owner of a growing business (The HOP) in Leland. He serves as Managing Director. The HOP has attracted 1000’s of people to the Leland area.
Committed
Richard plans to be a part of the community long term. Two of our adult children and four of our seven grandchildren live in the area. I want the best future possible for them.
Engaged
Richard wants to be a resource in bringing town staff to communities to provide quarterly town hall updates.
